As tensions continue to escalate between Israel and Iran, top officials from Alabama are showing their support for President Donald Trump’s tough stance on the issue.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced “Operation Rising Lion” last Friday, which included air strikes and other military offensives deep in Iran. Since then, Iran has launched large-scale missile and drone strikes at Tel Aviv, Haifa, Bat Yam, and several other cities.

Trump is now calling for “unconditional surrender” from Iran and has made it clear that the Middle Eastern country cannot be allowed to have nuclear weapons.

U.S. Rep. Robert Aderholt (R-Haleyville) praised agreed with the president and praised him for the tough rhetoric.

“Iran cannot be allowed to have a nuclear weapon,” he said. “They have repeatedly said they want to bring death to Israel and America. We have no reason not to believe them.”

U.S. Sen. Katie Britt (R-Montgomery) said Iran obtaining nuclear weapons would be an “existential threat” to America and Israel.

“Iran is the largest state sponsor of terrorism in the world,” Britt explained, “and its possession of nuclear weapons would pose an existential threat to the U.S. and world.”

Trump is meeting with his national security advisors and considering a range of options, including a possible military strike against Iran.
