The body of an Alabama woman has been found in Gulf of Mexico waters off Florida’s coast.

The Pensacola News Journal reports that the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission identified the woman as 56-year-old Carolyn Blankenfeld of Lillian, Alabama.

Coast Guard crews found her body Monday in Perdido Bay.

The couple had been boating Sunday. Authorities said the woman’s husband jumped into the water from his boat when he saw that she was struggling to swim.

The vessel drifted away as 52-year-old Christopher Blankenfeld searched for his wife, and he had to swim to shore to notify authorities that his wife was missing.
