Fridy is a former, two-term chairman of the Shelby County Republican Party. He presently serves on the Alabama Republican State Executive Committee and recently completed a two-year term as a member of the GOP Steering Committee, which plays a major role in setting the State Party’s direction.
In 2010 he managed Rep. April Weaver’s and Rep. Kurt Wallace’s successful campaigns for the Alabama House of Representatives. He ran unsuccessfully for Alabama Republican Party Chairman earlier this year.
Fridy is currently an attorney with Wallace, Jordan, Ratliff, and Brandt, LLC, a full-service law firm located in the Birmingham suburb of Homewood, where he specializes in constitutional law, government law, critical motion and appellate practice, and corporate litigation.
In Yellowhammer’s March 20th “Rumors & Rumblings” post, we speculated that Fridy would run for this seat and would be the early frontrunner.
It is unclear at this time what other District 73 residents are eyeing the seat, but Fridy’s official announcement while likely be a deterrent to lesser-known potential candidates.
