The Birmingham Police Department is continuing its fight against illegal racing and exhibition driving on the city’s streets.

From May 31- June 1 and last weekend, six men were taken into custody on various charges as part of Operation Knight Rider. The street enforcement operation which began April 12 is designed to disrupt illegal exhibition driving and street racing in the city.

Arrested were:

  • RaJai Atmore, 19, of Hoover, charged with exhibition driving and second-degree unlawful possession of marijuana
  • Quentavious Barclay, 29, of Childersburg, charged with first-degree receiving stolen property, fleeing/attempt to elude, and second-degree unlawful possession of marijuana
  • Davon Dortch, 18, of Birmingham, charged with second-degree receiving stolen property
  • Jaqua Lacey, 28, of Birmingham, charged with exhibition driving
  • Cameron Scales, 18, of Birmingham, charged with first-degree receiving stolen property, felony attempting to elude and second-degree criminal mischief. During his arrest, four handguns, a radical firearm RF 15 multi-caliber and a Glock switch were seized
  • Messiah Woodruf, 20, of Fultondale, charged with exhibition driving

Police also said four cars were impounded and seven firearms were seized as a result of the arrests.

Gov. Kay Ivey signed legislation last year establishing a misdemeanor charge at minimum for exhibition driving. Under the law, if an individual kills or injures someone  during the act, they can be charged with up to a Class B felony. Additionally, damaging property could result in a Class B felony as well.
