Birmingham Mayor Woodfin hospitalized with ‘symptoms connected to COVID pneumonia’

Mayor Randall Woodfin has been hospitalized due to COVID-19 complications, the City of Birmingham tweeted on Monday night.

He tested positive for coronavirus and began isolating on Wednesday of last week. Woodfin reported “mild” symptoms at that time.

On Monday, the City wrote, “Mayor [Woodfin] was admitted to a hospital tonight to address symptoms connected to COVID pneumonia, according to his doctor.”

“Mayor Woodfin said he is receiving excellent care and is resting comfortably. He remains in good spirits and thanks everyone for their well wishes,” the tweet added.
