Birmingham cook-off event to raise funds for families of children with special needs

GrillMania: Back to School Smackdown will take place Saturday, Aug. 9, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Park 124, 2408 Pelham Parkway.

The event, hosted by local IT company Evolv I.T. and Ortho South, will feature a barbecue cook-off, children’s activities, music and food vendors.

Proceeds will benefit Aaron’s Staff Respite Care Ministry , a nonprofit that provides support and respite care for families of children with special needs.

Local grill masters will compete for top honors in the cook-off. Attendees can also enjoy inflatables, games and other family-friendly activities.

Aaron’s Staff Respite provides essential respite care services, giving parents and caregivers of children with special needs the critical time and support they need. Proceeds and awareness generated from GrillMania will go directly toward helping the organization continue its outreach and care.

The event is open to the public.
