The employees at Amazon’s fulfillment center in Bessemer have made giving back to their community a priority this Christmas season.
“Our community, like everywhere, is facing hard times, and Amazon is committed to doing what we can to help,” said Rob Street, Loss Prevention manager of Amazon’s Birmingham fulfillment center, in a statement.
One of the biggest recipients of the Amazon facility’s generosity was the Nurturing Golden Hearts charity. The organization received more than 400 items and a $10,000 donation from the Loss Prevention Team at Amazon.
Nurturing Golden Hearts provides nourishment “to children outside of school hours, struggling families, homeless individuals, senior citizens and individuals with disabilities,” according to its Facebook page.
Additionally, senior employees at the facility volunteered their time on December 19 to help Nurturing Golden Hearts distribute food vouchers.
Amazon employees also adopted three children who were included on the Salvation Army Tree. The three lucky young people in the Birmingham area received everything on their lists including a tablet, a television, clothes and shoes.
“At the end of the day, it’s all about helping others in our community. Amazon has done well this year, and we want to be there for those who have struggled,” Street concluded.
