Alabama Governor Robert Bentley is betting big on his home state Auburn Tigers in the BCS National Championship against Florida State University.
“[I] placed a friendly wager with Florida Governor Rick Scott today,” Bentley said on Facebook. “If Auburn wins the BCS National Championship he has to send me a key lime pie and if FSU wins I’ll send him a gallon of Toomer’s Drugs lemonade. Toomer’s Drugs has been an Auburn tradition since 1896. No visit would be complete without a glass of their fresh squeezed lemonade.”

This isn’t Bentley’s first time placing a friendly wager with a fellow Republican governor. In 2011, Bentley and Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal bet on the regular seasons matchup between top ranked Louisiana State and second-ranked Alabama. Bentley bet a Rama Jama’s sandwich against some Louisiana seafood.
Bentley lost that one, but ended up getting a seafood dinner anyway when the governors re-upped their bet and The Tide won a rematch against LSU in the BCS Championship game a couple of months later.
Auburn takes on FSU Jan. 6 at Rose Bowl Stadium in Pasadena, California.
There won’t be a second chance this time around. Auburn fans are hoping Gov. Bentley has key lime pie for lunch Jan. 7.
