Thursday, Rep. Barry Moore (R-Enterprise) announced that he is seeking a wounded warrior or medically retired veteran for employment at his district office.

According to a release, this will be a two-year paid fellowship. The position would serve as a liaison between the military and veteran constituents for veteran casework and fill the role of a go-between for federal, state and local agencies.

This position is a part of the Wounded Warrior Fellowship Program that was created to provide employment opportunities for veterans within member offices.

This announcement coming just days after he filed a bill to improve the processing of education benefits is another step by Moore to show his commitment to those who serve the country.

Moore stated in a release about the employment opportunity, “We have a responsibility to our veterans to care for them when they return and making sure we honor that commitment is one of my highest priorities.”

“As a former Guardsman turned business owner myself, I know the challenges our servicemen and women face when they pursue a life beyond military service, and I’m pleased to work with the House of Representatives to help make sure veterans and military personnel living in America have access to our federal government and the care and services they have earned,” he added.

The program is limited to veterans who meet the following requirements, per Moore’s office:

“Honorably discharged, released from active duty within the last six years, terminal pay grades at or below E-5, O-3, or W-2. Veterans promoted to the pay grades of E-6, O-4, and W-3 within 6-months of separation from active duty are eligible, granted they meet ALL other eligibility requirements. Veterans who are in receipt of a 20-year or Temporary Early Retirement Authorization (TERA) retirement are not eligible for the program.”
