‘Balls and strikes’: Alabama Supreme Court hopeful Greg Cook launches first TV spot

Wednesday, attorney Greg Cook launched his campaign’s first television advertisement in his Republican bid for Alabama Supreme Court associate justice.

Titled “Balls and Strikes,” Cook’s 30-second spot outlines his stance on the role of the judiciary and touches on his career experience.

“Balls and strikes aren’t just for baseball. They’re for the courtroom, too. I’m Greg Cook, a conservative who’ll call balls and strikes instead of legislating from the bench,” he says in the ad. “I love our country. And that’s why I proudly served in the United States Air Force and as a delegate for Donald Trump. As the attorney for the Alabama Republican Party, I fought voter fraud and made sure our elections were fair and secure. I’m Greg Cook, a conservative for the Alabama Supreme Court.”

In a statement accompanying his ad release, Cook announced that he had taken his campaign’s message to all 67 Yellowhammer State counties.

“As I have always said, judges should be like neutral umpires – just calling the balls and strikes – not favoring one side over another,” the candidate declared. “That is who I am and I believe that is why our campaign has received so much support from literally every corner of the state. I’m proud to say that I have now campaigned in all sixty-seven counties across our beautiful state. From Florence to Dothan, the people of Alabama have responded to my message: that I am a constitutional conservative and will ensure a level playing field for every party in every case.”

“I believe a judge is there to apply the law as written and not legislate from the bench. That is what I will do,” pledged Cook.

Cook will face Calhoun County Circuit Judge Debra Jones in the May 24, 2022, Republican primary election.
