Monday night’s Madison City Council meeting saw more than 20 residents speak up after it was disclosed last week that Madison Utilities would discontinue adding fluoride to the city’s water supply. 

The inaugural Outdoor Recreation Summit brought together more than 250 representatives from state agencies, nonprofits, local governments, and the private sector to showcase Alabama’s leadership in outdoor recreation.

This year is the 70th anniversary of Burritt on the Mountain, Huntsville’s first museum. Founded in 1955, Burritt on the Mountain evolved from a home museum into a living history museum with nature trails, historic log cabins, the McCurdy Barnyard, Baron Bluff, and The View.

 It was an opening of “EPIC” proportions for Northrop Grumman. The giant defense contractor unveiled its Enhanced Production and Integration Center (EPIC) in Madison today, featuring 175,500 square feet of production space.

State Sen. Arthur Orr is speaking out on a gambling bill that is being “shopped around” the state Legislature. “There’s one being shopped that has been assembled and put together and the senators are reading it, looking at it,” said Orr (R-Decatur). “It won’t start in the House this year. If it starts, it’s going to start in the Senate.

While President Trump has called for large-scale job cuts in the federal workforce led by the Department of Government Efficiency, Mayor Tommy Battle said Huntsville hasn’t seen evidence of widespread cuts.  

 U.S. Rep. Dale Strong said he feels confident Space Command will finally move to Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville. In an interview with 256 Today, Strong (R-Monrovia) said he recently met with President Donald Trump and Vice President JD Vance in the Oval Office.
