The Auburn Tigers defeated the Alabama Crimson Tide 94-85 in a No. 1 vs. No. 2 showdown at Coleman Coliseum on Saturday afternoon in order to hold onto the top spot with the release of Monday’s brand new AP Poll.

Alabama, on the other hand, dropped down two spots, but remained in the top-five, now sitting at No. 4 behind the No. 2 Florida Gators and No. 3 Duke Blue Devils.

The full new poll can be viewed here:

With the Tide remaining in the top-five, the SEC can still stake its claim of owning three of the top-five and half of the top-ten with Tennessee coming in at No. 6 and Texas A&M coming in at No. 7.

All in all, the best conference in college basketball retains a total of nine ranked teams. The Missouri Tigers, who Alabama faces on the road this week, have climbed up to No. 15 while Kentucky has dropped two spots to No. 7.

Both Mississippi schools still remain ranked as well with Mississippi State coming in at No. 21 and Ole Miss at No. 24.

Auburn will try to hold onto the No. 1 ranking with two home games this week against Arkansas and Georgia while Alabama gets Kentucky at home after the road trip to Columbia.
