Auburn point guard Davion Mitchell transferring

Auburn freshman point guard Davion Mitchell is transferring.

Tigers coach Bruce Pearl announced Mitchell’s decision on Thursday, calling Mitchell “one of the most coachable players I’ve ever had.”
Mitchell played in all 34 games for Auburn, which won a share of the regular-season Southeastern Conference title and made its first NCAA Tournament in 15 years.

He averaged just 3.7 points per game, but was also second on the team with 63 assists.

Auburn starter Jared Harper is a sophomore. Fellow guard Samir Doughty sat out the season after transferring from VCU.
