The 67th Grammy Awards aired on Sunday and for one Athens native, it was a night to remember.

WHNT said that Chris Burks played a role in creating DOE Jones’ album, ‘Heart of a Human,’ which won a Grammy for Best Contemporary Christian Music Album.

Burks grew up playing and recording music at Sound Cell Studio in Huntsville. His love for music led him to Full Sail University, which offers programs designed for the world of media and emerging technologies.  Burks is now an audio engineer and manages his own company, working in venues including Nashville, Tennessee, and New York City.

When Burks was notified that the album he worked on was nominated, he couldn’t believe it.

“Got a call, and I was like, man, that’s crazy,” said Burks. “I think I probably started jumping around in my room at the time.”

Burks credits his family and friends for his success, but most importantly, he credits God.
