With Thanksgiving nearly here, Alabamians across the state are excited for good food and good company. From fried turkey and stuffing to cranberry sauce and gravy, the traditional Thanksgiving feast is something that families look forward to year-round.

Along with the normal staples and sides of the day, some desserts have become established favorites including pies of all types specifically, the classic apple and pumpkin pies.

With so many in the country celebrating the holiday, it’s only natural that one has become the favorite over the other.

Per data published by USA Today on the most googled pies in each state, Alabama’s pie of choice for Turkey Day is pumpkin. The Yellowhammer State was joined by fourteen others in its dessert preference compared to 34 states where apple reigned supreme.

There were two notable exceptions to the trend. In Mississippi, sweet potato pie came out on top while in Hawaii, Haupia pie was the choice of residents for Thanksgiving.
