Alabamians can now call this number for coronavirus testing questions

(PIxabay, YHN)

Starting 8:00 a.m. CT on Saturday, March 14, Alabamians have a central place to call with questions about being tested for coronavirus (COVID-19).

The new helpline number from the Alabama Department of Public Health (ADPH) is 1-888-264-2256.

The number is primarily for Alabamians who do not have a healthcare provider to call.

The ADPH  is still advising Alabamians with a primary care physician to call their own doctor (not visit in-person) if they think they might have coronavirus.

From there, the doctor over-the-phone can do preliminary screening to determine if a specimen should be taken from the patient to then be officially tested.

You can find the latest information on coronavirus at ADPH’s website here.
