The President announced the news Monday night on Truth Social.

“I have agreed to do the Commencement Address at two really GREAT places, the University of Alabama and WEST POINT,” Trump wrote. “Stay tuned for times and dates!!!”

U.S. Sen. Katie Britt (R-Montgomery), who graduated from the University of Alabama, said it will be a “historic speech.”

Gov. Kay Ivey echoed Britt’s excitement.

U.S. Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-Auburn) said he’s glad that “Alabama’s favorite President” will be making another appearance in the state.

U.S. Reps. Barry Moore (R-Enterprise) and Robert Aderholt (R-Haleyville) believe the speech will be a good one for the upcoming generation to hear.

Alabama Attorney General Steve Marshall said this is a great way for the class of 2025 to celebrate their accomplishment.

Trump’s appearance would mark the first time a sitting or former U.S. president has delivered a commencement address at Alabama’s flagship university. The university’s spring commencement ceremonies are scheduled to take place May 2-4 at Coleman Coliseum, with more than 6,700 students expected to graduate.
