Reshad Hudson, who for the last two years has served as the state government reporter for a chain of TV stations in Alabama, has been promoted to national correspondent in Washington, D.C.

Hudson, an Alabama native, was lauded by politicians on both sides of the aisle for being scrupulously nonpartisan and having a tireless work ethic.

Since 2018, he has been seen regularly on all of Nexstar Media Group’s stations in Alabama. Those include CBS 42 in Birmingham, WHNT News 19 in Huntsville, WDHN Dothan First in the Wiregrass and News 5 WKRG in Mobile.

Hudson will now join Nexstar’s bureau of reporters in D.C. as they cover the nation’s capital on behalf of the company’s 197 stations in 115 media markets.

Nexstar announced Hudson’s promotion via a news story published by CBS 42 on Tuesday morning.

Hudson graduated from the University of Alabama in 2015 with degrees in political science and broadcast journalism.

He quickly climbed the ladder in his chosen field, earning his first internship as a TV reporter in 2013 and moving quickly through the ranks in Dothan and then Birmingham before arriving to report on Montgomery.

During his time covering the capitol, Hudson frequently scored exclusive interviews with top government officials and captured quotes that drove the political conversation statewide.

Hudson told his home station on Tuesday that working in DC “has always been the goal, but I didn’t know when or how I would get there.”

He thanked his bosses Jimmy Cromwell and CBS 42 news director Rob Martin for their support during his time working for Nexstar in Alabama.

“Good news for us, we can air Reshad’s Washington stories,” remarked Martin, who effusively praised Hudson’s work for his station.

“I’m excited for the journey ahead, but Alabama will always be home,” remarked Hudson on Tuesday.
