The College Football Playoff Selection Committee announced the four teams who will compete for this year’s national championship, and the University of Alabama Crimson Tide, to no one’s surprise, was seeded No. 1.
Clemson came in second, followed by Ohio State and Notre Dame, respectively.
This means Nick Saban’s squad will play the Fighting Irish. The January 1 game, technically the Rose Bowl, will be played in Dallas after being moved from California.
On the outside looking in, Texas A&M was ranked No. 5 and Oklahoma No. 6.
Bama on Saturday wrapped up a perfect 11-0 SEC season by winning the conference championship over an explosive Florida squad. The Tide’s historic run is being called the best regular season ever, and now only two games stand between them and the all-time greats.
Ahead of the committee’s announcement on Sunday, Saban explained why he would not be tuning into the show and when his team would start preparing for the semifinal game.

Ohio State and Clemson will play in the Sugar Bowl in New Orleans on January 1.
