Alabama Republicans celebrate RFK Jr. confirmation as HHS Secretary

Republicans members of Alabama’s Congressional delegation are lauding the confirmation of President Donald Trump’s pick to head the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS).

Robert F. Kennedy Jr. was confirmed by the Senate Thursday to be the HHS Secretary, with U.S. Sen. Mitch McConnell being the only Republican to vote against his confirmation.

Kennedy originally ran for President as a Democrat in 2024 before eventually running as an Independent. He then dropped out of the race and endorsed Trump.

U.S. Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-Auburn), who is a member of the Make America Health Again caucus, said he’s excited about the necessary changes the confirmation will bring.
