Alabama puts Saban-era first round draft streak on the line Thursday night

With draft night arriving on Thursday night, fans across the South will be eager to see where their favorite SEC stars are going to land and how much of the first round will be dominated by the best conference in college football.

When it comes to having players drafted, few programs have been able to match the incredible feats over the years in terms of number of players sent to the league as the Alabama Crimson Tide.

The reason for that is the recruiting and subsequent development of Nick Saban.

Ridiculously, the Tide has sent at least one player to the first round in every single draft since 2009 for a ridiculous NCAA record of 16 straight years.

On Thursday night, this streak will be put to the test as Kalen DeBoer’s draft hopefuls try to extend it to 17 in a row.

There are three real hopefuls in Tyler Booker, Jihaad Campbell, and maybe even Jalen Milroe, but none of the three are an absolute lock to be selected in the first round.

Booker and Campbell are likely to keep the streak alive, but as a guard and off-ball linebacker respectively, players from those positions are not being drafted as highly in recent years.

Milroe on the other hand is a wild card with obviously dominating legs but limitations with his arm, but his upside could convince someone to pull the trigger during the first round on Thursday night.

All good things have to come to an end, but it’s probably not likely all three Tide stars fall into the second round and the streak will continue.
