FLORENCE, Ala. — Alabamian Tyler Blake Kimbrell jumped into action when he saw his sister and niece plummet down a 100-foot embankment in a horrifying car wreck, last week.

Though his sister was ejected safely from the vehicle, his niece, 11-month-old Breleigh, was stuck in her carseat—and not responsive.

Kimbrell turned on his phone’s camera light so he could see to free his niece, in the process capturing his frantic efforts and pleas to God.

“Oh Jesus, please let my niece be OK. Uncle Blake’s going to get you out of here, I promise,” Kimbrell said during the harrowing rescue.

After two tense minutes, baby Breleigh regained consciousness and began crying.

“When I heard that cry it was the most precious, cry I’ve ever heard in my life,” he said, “because that let me know that she’s not unconscious anymore, and she’s probably going to be alright.”

But it still took Kimbrell several more minutes to finally free his niece, handing her off to first responders.

Though neither Breleigh nor her mother were injured, the car was totaled. Kimbrell has set up a GoFundMe to help his sister purchase a new car, as well as replace some personal items lost in the crash.

The Alabama native said he posted the video after he discovered it had recorded because he wanted people to see that God still works miracles, and “that He is still in the USA no matter how much people try and push him away.”

Now he is garnering national attention for his actions, including being featured on ABC’s Good Morning America Wednesday, but maintains he isn’t the one who is a hero.

“Jesus Christ is ‘The Hero’ because he saves lives for eternity,” Kimbrell continued. “We are nothing more than tools being used to get the job done.”
