Will Reichard is one of the most decorated players in the history of Alabama Crimson Tide football program. After coming back for his final year of eligibility, he sailed enough successful kicks to become the all-time NCAA’s scoring leader in 2023.

Reichard received an incredible honor this week from his hometown of Hoover, Alabama during a city council meeting, receiving a key to the city along with a proclamation that named him Hoover’s hometown hero.

According to WVTM, the event was attended by Reichard’s family members along with his former coach at Hoover High School, Josh Niblett.

“I’m so proud of him, and I love him to death. It’s been awesome to watch because I’ll be honest with you, I’ll be surprised if his [points] record ever gets broken. It couldn’t happen to a more awesome guy. He’s an awesome player, but he’s even awesome as a person, and so is his family,” Niblett said.

“A lot of you in this room nurtured me as a I was growing up while I spent a lot of time developing as a person and a football player, and I really appreciate the support,” Reichard said.

“I’m really proud to be from the city of Hoover and always will be.”

By Reichard’s senior year at Hoover, he was the No. 1 ranked kicker in the nation and chose to attend Alabama over offers from Auburn, LSU, Oklahoma, Oregon and Georgia.

Five years later after one of the best careers a kicker or any player has had in the sport of college football, Reichard is preparing for NFL combine next week beginning Monday, February 26th.

It’s safe to say that whichever NFL team takes a chance on Reichard is getting both a phenomenal player and person.
