The U.S. Senate has confirmed an Alabama lawyer to serve as a district court judge for the Northern District of Alabama.

Officials say Annemarie Axon, an attorney for Wallace, Jordan, Ratliff & Brandt, LLC, was confirmed Wednesday. Her firm’s managing member, Jay Clark, congratulated her on the confirmation and noted that “her temperament and sound judgment” will make her a great addition to the federal bench.

Al.com reports Axon’s practice has been entirely devoted to litigation with a concentration in fiduciary and probate legislation.

Axon is a member of both the Alabama and Rhode Island State Bars.

Republican Sen. Richard Shelby says Axon, of Mountain Brook, is one of five Alabama judicial nominees who have been awaiting confirmation since being nominated by President Donald Trump in 2017.
