The Alabama Republican Congressional delegation praised the certification of Donald Trump’s election as President Monday as they look forward to his inauguration on January 20, 2025. President-elect Trump and Vice President-elect J.D. Vance were officially certified as the President and Vice President of the United States.

Vice President Kamala Harris, who lost to Trump in the election in a 312-226 Electoral College victory for the former President, presided over a joint-session of Congress, making Trump’s election official.

“I do believe very strongly that America’s democracy is only as strong as our willingness to fight for it,” Harris said after the certification. “Today, America’s democracy stood.”

U.S. Sen. Katie Britt (R-Montgomery) said she believes Trump’s election is about Americans wanting their leaders to put their country first.

“I was proud to participate in certifying the election of our nation’s 47th President, Donald J. Trump,” Britt said. “His resounding, historic victory in November was a message from the American people that they want a president who will put them first—making America safe, strong, and prosperous again. I’m excited for the start of President Trump’s second term, and I look forward to attending his and Vice President-elect J.D. Vance’s inauguration two weeks from today.”

U.S. Rep. Barry Moore (R-Enterprise) said the certification was historic.

U.S. Rep. Dale Strong (R-Monrovia) also believes it’s historic and said he’s ready to, ” run the plays that President Trump calls.”

U.S. Reps. Robert Aderholt (R-Haleyville) and Gary Palmer (R-Hoover) said they were honored to participate in the vote.

U.S. Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-Auburn) reacted to the certification and said it’s time to “Make America Great Again.”
