Thursday, the Alabama Farmers Federation (ALFA) announced its 11th slate of endorsements for candidates seeking election to the Alabama House of Representatives.

ALFA utilizes its political arm, FarmPAC, in selecting its preferred candidates seeking public office.

The following incumbents now hold an official endorsement from FarmPAC:

  • State Rep. Phillip Pettus (R-Killen)
  • State Rep. Jeremy Gray (D-Opelika)
  • State Rep. Prince Chestnut (D-Selma)

Additionally, ALFA announced its endorsement of Helena City councilwoman Leigh Hulsey, who is seeking the Republican nomination for House District 15.

Lauderdale County Farmers Federation president Joe Dickerson praised Pettus for his service in the lower chamber.

“Rep. Pettus is a good public servant for our district,” stated Dickerson. “He cares about the needs of his constituents and represents them well in Montgomery.”

Jamie Lazenby, Lee County Farmers Federation president, lauded Gray’s work ethic.

“Rep. Gray is a leader in the House of Representatives, and we appreciate his service to our district,” advised Lazenby. “He works hard to make sure our needs are represented in Montgomery.”

Dallas County Farmers Federation president Jimmy Holliman asserted that House District 67 was well-served with Chestnut as its representative.

“Rep. Chestnut is a hard-working representative, and he does a fine job for us at home and in Montgomery representing our needs,” proclaimed Holliman. “We are honored to support his reelection bid.”

John DeLoach, president of the Shelby County Farmers Federation, touted Hulsey’s grasp of her district’s issues.

“Leigh Hulsey is a strong business leader who understands the needs of the people of this district,” stated DeLoach. “She is also a strong conservative who will work hard representing the needs of our district in the Legislature.”

In October, ALFA rolled out its first and second slate of legislative endorsements, followed by its thirdfourth and fifth strings of endorsements in November. The federation in December announced its sixthseventh and eighth rounds of endorsements. Last month, ALFA month made public its ninth and 10th rounds of legislative endorsements.

ALFA in September of last year officially endorsed its preferred slate of candidates seeking election to federal and statewide offices.
