ALABAMA EATS: Unload your pistol and reload your stomach at Cubby’s Deli

Cubby’s Corner Deli opened in Hoover, Ala. in late 2011 and has been serving up classic American sandwiches and homemade Italian dishes ever since.

Tucked in the corner of Hoover Tactical Firearms, one of the nation’s premier firearms stores, Cubby’s is the only restaurant in town where you can unload your pistol on a state-of-the-art shooting range, then reload your stomach at one of the area’s best delis.

Former Hoover police officer Timothy “Cubby” Manzella used to cook for his colleagues as a hobby. Now he’s living his lifelong dream of owning and operating his own restaurant.

You really can’t go wrong at Cubby’s with the quarter-pound hot dog or 16-ounce hamburger, and the homemade cobblers make the trip worth it by themselves. But if you really want the full experience, you need to get one of their specialty sandwiches, like The Heart Attack.
