Billboard campaign thanks Tuberville for stance

An influential Washington, D.C.-based conservative group is showing its support to U.S. Sen. Tommy Tuberville’s strong pro-life stance.

The Heritage Foundation announced Wednesday the start of a billboard and digital advertising campaign to praise Tuberville (R-Auburn) for working to overturn the Defense Department’s taxpayer-funded abortion policy.

The campaign includes billboards in Huntsville, Montgomery, and Dale County that will say “Senator Tuberville, thank you for standing for life and against wokeness in the military.” The three areas are homes to military facilities – Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, Maxwell Air Force Base in Montgomery and Fort Novosel in Dale County.

Tuberville thanked the group on Twitter shortly after the announcement.

The senator has been blocking promotions of military generals and flag officers to protest the department’s new policy of funding travel and paid time off for service members and dependents seeking an elective abortion.

Tuberville has faced pushback from Democrats in the Senate, including Senate Majority leader Chuck Schumer who called his efforts “outrageous.”

The Heritage-funded ad campaign includes billboards in Huntsville, Montgomery, and near Fort Novosel that will say “Senator Tuberville, thank you for standing for life and against wokeness in the military.”

“It takes courage to stand up to the Washington establishment, and that’s exactly what Coach Tuberville is doing,” Heritage President Kevin Roberts said. “The Heritage Foundation is proud to stand alongside him and asks all U.S. senators to do the same until the Defense Department’s illegal abortion policy ends.”

The digital ad campaign will ask Americans and military veterans to sign a letter supporting Tuberville.

Roberts and Heritage Action Executive Director Jessica Anderson were also among the conservative pro-life leaders who signed a coalition letter supporting Tuberville in March.
