Alabama Attorney General Steve Marshall has called on Congress to pass a bipartisan bill to ensure nationwide access to year-round E15 gasoline, a move designed to bolster American energy independence.

On his first day in office, President Trump signed an executive order expanding access to E15 gasoline and highlighted its importance in achieving U.S. energy independence. He also established the National Energy Dominance Council, which has advocated for the utilization of biofuels as a key national energy asset.

Currently, only eight states have permanent access to year-round E15, posing logistical challenges for farmers and ethanol producers who must create two distinct gasoline blends—one for states with year-round E15 access and one for states without. Attorney General Marshall joined a coalition of states urging Congress to pass a legislative fix that would expand access to year-round E15 nationwide, providing stability for producers and enhancing consumer choice.

“Ensuring nationwide access to year-round E15 gasoline is a critical step toward strengthening America’s energy independence,” said Attorney General Steve Marshall. “President Trump’s leadership made clear that biofuels play a key role in securing our energy future, and it’s time for Congress to act. By passing this legislation, we can provide stability for producers, expand consumer choice, and unleash the full potential of American energy.”

The coalition of states is pushing for the swift passage of the Nationwide Consumer and Fuel Retailer Choice Act of 2025, which aims to guarantee year-round E15 access for all states.

In addition to Alabama, the coalition supporting this initiative includes Iowa, Alaska, Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Kansas, Louisiana, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, South Dakota, and West Virginia.
