Connell Maynor has been “relieved from his duties” as head football coach at Alabama A&M, Director of Athletics Dr. Paul A. Bryant announced Monday.

Calling for a change in leadership for the program, Bryant said a national search for the program’s next head coach will begin immediately.

“We want to thank Connell Maynor for his seven seasons at Alabama A&M University,” Bryant said. “We wish him well in all his future endeavors.”

Maynor’s record was 40-32, including 6-6 overall and 4-4 in the Southwestern Athletic Conference this season. The Bulldogs won the SWAC championship in May 2021.
