On Friday, Alabama Attorney General Steve Marshall announced the indictment of Charles Nathan “Nick” Nickelson, 60, a retired Huntsville police officer and former coordinator for Huntsville Area Crime Stoppers, on a felony ethics charge alleging he used his official position for personal gain.
Court documents say Nickelson took “all or a portion” of $25,520 that should have gone to paying credible tipsters, a Class B felony carrying a possible 2 to 20 years in prison if convicted. The case is being handled by the AG’s Special Prosecutions Division.
According to AG Marshall’s office, no further information about the investigation or Nickelson’s alleged crime has been released at this time.
