AG Marshall sues Biden WH over catch and release program — ‘The Biden administration cannot ignore the law, nor should it place American lives in jeopardy’

Monday, Attorney General Steve Marshall filed suit against the Biden administration for ignoring federal law that requires the detaining and deporting of illegal aliens who have committed crimes in the United States.

Marshall joined with the attorneys general of Florida and Georgia seeking an order that would protect the citizens of this country by preventing the illegal policy of releasing criminal aliens into the community.

Marshall said in a release, “[O]fficials in previous administrations of both political parties have agreed that the U.S. Department of Homeland Security has to prioritize the removal of criminal aliens, and the United States Supreme Court has held that immigration officials ‘must arrest those aliens guilty of a predicate offense.’”

Biden is slowly moving away from these laws and outright ignoring legal requirements, according to Marshall.

The Alabama AG noted in his release that Biden’s policy was not only a safety concern for the nation’s communities but a financial burden on law-abiding citizens. Over $100 million has already been spent collectively on incarcerated illegal aliens, and this number will only go higher as more are released and continually rearrested as the cycle repeats itself, he advised.

Marshall outlined, “Congress was justifiably concerned that deportable criminal aliens who are not detained continue to engage in crime and fail to appear for their removal proceedings in large numbers.”

“The Biden administration cannot ignore the law, nor should it place American lives in jeopardy by allowing criminal aliens to escape the long arm of justice,” he added.
