U.S. Reps. Robert Aderholt and Dale Strong said they’re proud to work with their GOP collogues in Congress to strengthen election integrity in America.

The two Republican members of the Alabama congressional delegation are co-sponsoring the American Confidence in Elections (ACE) Act, which House Republicans introduced Monday.

According to the bill’s summary, it will “promote election integrity, voter confidence, and faith in elections by removing Federal impediments to, equipping States with tools for, and establishing voluntary considerations to support effective State administration of Federal elections, improving election administration in the District of Columbia, improving the effectiveness of military voting programs, enhancing election security, and protecting political speech, and for other purposes.”

Aderholt (R-Haleyville) also praised the bill on Twitter.

“We are taking the necessary steps towards securing elections,” Aderholt tweeted, “cracking down on states that allow non-citizens to vote, and improving voting access for our service members overseas.”

Strong (R-Huntsville) highlighted how the bill will “improve voting access.”

“As an original cosponsor of the American Confidence in Elections Act,” Strong said on Twitter, “I am proud to say we are taking steps to secure the integrity of our elections. This would improve voting access for our service members overseas and crack down on states that allow non-citizens to vote!”

House Republicans introduced a similar piece of legislation last year after Democrats introduced their own election reform law that would have increased federal involvement in elections.
