A tax increase in Alabama was rejected by voters by 94% – which is an indictment of the local government

Elmore County officials asked voters to give them $150 per house and $300 per business every year in new taxes to help repair a prison and replace old firetrucks, voters said “NO.”

The local leaders let the jail fall apart and the equipment go into disrepair, before begging.
