6. State Rep. Juandalynn Givan (D-Birmingham) announced she will offer a resolution to recognize the 60th anniversary of the bombing of 16th Street Baptist Church. While a yearly “state holiday” would probably not be a good idea, an official remembrance is well warranted.

After a police officer shot 43-year-old Sterling Keyon Arnold in Huntsville last week and it noted that he was in possession of a handgun, Micheal Brown’s father was in Huntsville to screen a movie about Ferguson, Mo., and riots that destroyed the city. Brown spoke about the need for transparency in police shootings, a DOJ investigation into his son’s shooting found that his death was justified.
4. Even President Joe Biden’s most ardent defenders are acknowledging that he is having a bad spell with his son’s legal problems, his economic policies failing, questions about his age looming, and a failure to immigration under control causing his terrible poll numbers.
3. President Donald Trump did a “Meet the Press” interview and even without Chuck Todd at the helm, the show is a total disaster. Not surprisingly, new host Kristen Welker spent an absurd amount of time focusing on Jan. 6, the 2020 election, court cases, and abortion (where Trump claimed he would fix the issue) with no attention being directed to the economy, Joe Biden’s corruption, and Hunter Biden’s issues.
2. Candidate for president Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) is the latest high-profile Republican to support U.S. Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-Auburn) and his push to get the Pentagon to follow the law on abortion matters. The Pentagon’s illegal moves, which led to Tuberville’s holds, has led to 12 abortions and that seems like President Joe Biden’s policy change was unwarranted and illegal.
1. U.S. House Republicans have released a bill to avoid a government shutdown that includes 8% cuts to spending (non-military and veterans) and border security upgrades, which means the U.S. Senate will kill it. U.S. Rep. Marjorie Taylor Green (R-Ga.) says she is a “hard no,” so not all Republicans are on board because of Ukraine, COVID spending, and funding of federal prosecutors.
