Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Alabama (BCBS) recently awarded grants to 36 schools across the state worth a cumulative $318,000. The funding, which will reportedly benefit 17,000 students, is part of the organization’s ‘Be Healthy School Grant Program.’ The initiative is aimed at fighting childhood obesity. 

The grants provided by BCBS of Alabama will help implement school-based health and wellness programs, emphasizing increased exercise, nutrition, education, and parental involvement during the school year.

Each school will receive a grant of up to $10,000. The schools that received the grants along with their city and county of location can be found below.

Since 2012, Blue Cross has awarded over $3.2 million in 356 Be Healthy School Grants statewide, impacting more than 168,000 students.
