10th annual Black Belt Big Buck Photo Contest underway

Wednesday kicked off the Alabama Black Belt Adventures Association’s (ALBBAA) 10th annual Big Buck Photo Contest.

The online contest, sponsored by Jonathan Goode and Southeastern Land Group, will run through February 10, 2022.

“Over the past decade, we’ve held this friendly contest to highlight the long seasons, healthy populations and big bucks that the bountiful Black Belt region is known for,” said ALBBAA director Pam Swanner. “We encourage experienced hunters and those new to the sport to scout our woods for an unforgettable adventure and enter the contest.”

For those who wish to enter the contest, individuals must submit a photo of a buck they harvested from one of the 23 Black Belt region counties to ALBBAA’s contest webpage. The harvested buck must be from the 2021-2022 whitetail deer season. ALBBAA advised that contest winners from the previous two years are not eligible for entry.

The contest winner will be chosen by way of online voting. The contestant with the most online votes prior to the season’s close in February will receive a $500 gift card donated by Jonathan Goode and Southeastern Land Group.

Prior to partaking in this year’s hunting season, ALBBAA reminded sportsmen and women to obtain a hunting license through the Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources.

Alabama’s Black Belt region includes the following counties: Barbour, Bullock, Butler, Choctaw, Clarke, Conecuh, Crenshaw, Dallas, Greene, Hale, Lee, Lowndes, Macon, Marengo, Monroe, Montgomery, Perry, Pickens, Pike, Russell, Sumter, Tuscaloosa and Wilcox.
